We find breathtaking beauty in our amazing world. When we watch the sun set, hear waves roar and crash, smell pungent pines and light floral scents, feel the softness of a newborn’s skin and the silkiness of their hair, savor the sweetness of a juicy orange or fresh-picked apple, we respond, “What a wonderful world!” If we consider the best it has to offer—its greatest beauty and most majestic vistas—we have not come close to what we will see when the earth is made new.

The new earth will be heaven, literally. No longer will any aspect be tainted, diminished, or dying. Our pursuit of its wonder will not be hindered by tired bodies or sore joints. We will see depths of beauty, spectrums of color, and vastness of galaxies that we cannot now imagine. But the most splendored and most magnificent beauty will be found in its righteousness.

Beyond what we see and experience, there will be great joy in what is not there. We will not find pride or rivalry, fear or lying, insecurity or jealousy. Never again will we offer excuses, hide in shame, cover inadequacies, or judge others. We will not have regrets or resentment, longing or disappointment, scars or sorrow. All will be righteous—good, wholesome, honorable, and pure. We will be righteous.

It’s coming friends! Take heart and look forward to the day.

“See, I will create new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.
But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create,
for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy.
I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people;
the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.”

Isaiah 65:17-19
