I Love Fall
Thursday, October 21, 2021 by Barbara
My fall decorating usually rivals my Christmas décor but not this year. The boxes are not yet fully accessible, but I did manage to pull out enough seasonal trimmings to celebrate autumn in our new home—because I Love Fall.
I love the crispness of the air that calls for hoodies and wraps and the coziness of an extra blanket on the bed.
I love the lazy drift of leaves that cover the ground with red, yellow, and brown and their swishing sound when I shuffle through them.
I love drives in the country—trees flaunting their colors across the landscape, piles of pumpkins at roadside stands, and mums punctuating the terrain.
I love apples—baked in pies or apple crisp, warm with soft vanilla ice cream; as applesauce oozing from the apple mill, warm and sweet; on sticks, sticky and covered with caramel.
I love the welcome of fall wreaths hanging on front doors, accompanied by bright pumpkins and subtle cabbages on the doorsteps.
I love the aroma of pumpkin bread in the oven, toasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie (with whipped cream), and the smell of cinnamon.
I love how our anticipation builds for Thanksgiving—creating paper turkeys, overeating a fantastic once-a-year meal, enjoying friends and family, and thanking God together.
What do you love about the Fall?
