Worship is Exclusive

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.
The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.
Psalm 29:2-4
Worship eclipses all but God, making our time and attention exclusively His. This kind of intimacy doesn’t happen through willpower but by practice. As we focus on God’s vastness and majesty we are drawn in to His presence and we find that our concerns and troubles have dwarfed.
Who is this God we worship? He is altogether holy and righteous, wonderful in all His ways and loving in all His deeds. His power is limitless, His love is boundless, and His purposes are perfect. His voice commands the waters and His glory is reflected in His creation. He is responsive to our needs and works on our behalf and for our blessing, even when we don’t see or understand His actions.
We hear His voice roar in the thunder and whisper on the waves. We see His faithfulness in the dawn and glimpse the light of His presence in darkness. We taste His goodness in our blessings and savor His provision with every rainfall. We feel the comfort of His grace and the assurance of His love, when we are troubled and when we are glad.
With full hearts we respond by glorifying Him and worshiping His splendor. And when we falter, or our hearts feel empty and our feelings fail, we still worship because we believe what we don’t sense or comprehend. We believe the One who is sovereign and wise, who is full of mercy and grace, is worthy of our sacrifice of praise—in the sunshine and in the storm.
