Unexpected Delight

Moving Moments #5
Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name…
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:1,5
Early in our house hunt, I took the words of Psalm 103 to heart, believing and praying that the Lord would satisfy our desires with good things and renew our passion. Satisfaction and renewal—sounds good to me—and God was true to His word.
The house isn’t perfect, but it’s perfect for us. God provided blessings beyond our needs—like a front porch and fireplace—and satisfied our souls. He gave us things we really, really wanted—one floor living and a private—and fulfilled our desires. He went above and beyond what we never asked for—a prayer closet for Rich and a pool table for our grandchildren. Every day we thank God for satisfying us with good, good things.
He is also renewing us, stirring fresh vision, whetting our appetites for new opportunities. Granted, we are two, tired, old people who will need rest when the house is settled but we anticipate God renewing our energy to enter the doors He will open.
Satisfaction and renewal—from the goodness of God’s heart, for His glory, to serve His purposes. It’s a foretaste of our true home, when all will be made new. We will be astounded by His glory, revel in unimaginable beauty, and serve with a joy we can’t contain.
Let’s start now by worshiping, appreciating, and serving from full hearts.
