“Do not be afraid.”
Thursday, December 23, 2021 by Barbara

Rumbles of war in the Ukraine are louder. Threat of nuclear development is nearer. Political opinion is hotter. The strains of Covid may multiply. Cancer remains resistant to treatment. And Jesus says to us, “Do not be afraid, child, I’ve got you.”

  • “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows” Luke 12:6-7.
  • “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
  • “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Let God’s message to Mary, Joseph, the shepherds—and us—reverberate in your heart, soul, and mind. His promise and presence is the only Peace on Earth we have.

“Do not be afraid.” Nestle in His arms this Christmas and let Him carry you through the new year.

Faith over Fear is sometimes so difficult to take hold of. When traveling through difficulties focusing on HIm is what we need to do. It is easy to say but sometimes so hard to do. May the Lord help us all to follow Mary, Joseph and the Shepherds examples to embrace His peace in all circumstances.

I agree, Elaine. It's like we have to keep reminding ourselves that God has it - He has us!
