I love the flash storms of summer, sudden and loud:
- The anticipation when skies darken and become thick with gray clouds.
- Watching slow drips fall faster and faster, developing into torrents of rain.
- The awe of remarkable, sudden flashes of lightning.
- Loud claps of thunder that make me jump.
- The cozy feeling of being indoors, safe and protected.
- The clean air that follows and the sparkle of drops left behind.
- Seeing the sun break through, as if asking, “Did you miss me?”
How about you? Are the summer storms something you welcome? Or dread?
BTW, your responses to ice cream favorites offered two contenders that challenge my coconut/chocolate-covered almonds ice cream: black raspberry chocolate chip and salted caramel truffle. And then there was my friend who stayed with vanilla but dropped it in a 7-11 Slurpee! Hmm.
